Day of the Dead
Day of the Day "Dia de los Muertos" starts tomorrow and what better day to get the festivities started than Halloween?
First of all, huge thanks to Andrew Miller from The North American Circus Competition for generously sponsoring the shoot and supplying most of my gear for the day including a Phase One camera and full lighting kit (and tasty soy sauce marinated eggs). If you're a creative, you'll definitely want to check out the Circus Competition with several categories for makeup artists, photographers and many others with some mouth watering prizes on offer. At the very least its a very well curated collection of world class artwork created out of collaboration and community that's definitely worth a peek.
And on the topic of community, I put a call out very last minute to do the shoot expecting most people to be unavailable. The lesson for me is never to underestimate the power of people coming together with a unified goal to create and much to my surprise, a lot of people made themselves available to come and lend a hand to pull it together and I'm very grateful to everyone involved. After all...who doesn't want to hang out at the beach and play with fire?!
Special thanks also to Maida of Anna Fora for the amazing body chain above. We also recently did a shoot that we're excited to release soon - some of the behind the scenes here (as well as Brian's bts video here). Thank you also to Crystal Lee for coming out to help and join in the fun. Big thank you as well to MAKE UP FOR EVER for sponsoring the makeup used on this shoot.
